Our vision.
Your journey.
Nativ – the National Center for Jewish Studies, Identity & Conversion – is the largest, best-established, and most comprehensive conversion preparation organization in Israel. Since Nativ was founded in 1999, more than 34,000 graduates have successfully completed the conversion process.
Our vision is to take another step in the historic process of returning to Zion. Our mission is to strengthen Jewish identity and unity among the Jewish people through the State of Israel’s official conversion process.
It’s no secret that conversion is a complex journey that requires genuine commitment from all parties. This is why, since the very beginning, we have provided all students with a complete service that includes personal guidance, attentive listening, inclusivity that embraces many different perspectives, and encouragement at every stage – from the moment you register until your final meeting with the Conversion Court (and beyond…).
“I established a very special bond with my teacher, Bella. That bond, along with all the people I met and the study materials, made me so excited to come to every single lesson!”
- Anastasia Oreshkin
- Civilian Program Graduate
Whether you come from Russia, Ethiopia, Argentina, or elsewhere, you’ll discover that Nativ is not just about conversion – it’s about connection. Connection to your roots, to Jewish history and heritage, and to yourself.
At Nativ, you’ll not only get a lot of answers, but also learn to ask questions. Our teaching method is very open and inclusive, so we can help you with the internal doubts and questions that naturally arise before and during the learning process.
For us – the men and women of Nativ – this is far more than a workplace. It’s a daily vocation, bringing us a tremendous sense of satisfaction. This is why it’s not surprising that many of our students continue to maintain close ties with their teachers and host families, even after the official conversion process is complete.
Nativ: The Israeli Government’s Executive Arm for Conversion
Nativ serves as the government’s executive arm in the field of conversion, and is the main preparatory body for conversion in Israel. We serve Israeli citizens who are not registered as Jews, or are not considered to be Jewish under the Halacha (Jewish religious law). Our goal is to enrich our students worlds with the knowledge, values, history, and culture of the Jewish people – and, above all, to support them throughout their conversion journey.
This conversion process is recognized by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and all government institutions.
